The original iPad debuted in 2010 and the tablet has been steadily getting better ever since. Since then Apple has certainly stepped up their game, releasing tablets with powerful chips like the M4. But the original is still an iconic device — and the entry-level option for iPad buyers. The latest 11th-gen A16 iPad has come a long way since that 2010 model, as you’d expect, and it’s a solid option in 2025. In fact, it’s one of our favorite tablets right now. It’s fast, has a big display and you can choose from a handful of colors as well. But as inexpensive as it is compared to the rest of the iPad lineup, there’s still room for improvement — and there are plenty of deals to help.

Some retailers are offering direct discounts while others are paying hundreds for your old device when you trade it in. Carriers are also discounting the iPad by up to 50% when you add it to your plan. To help you take advantage of these offers, we’ve rounded up the best 11-inch iPad deals available today.

Hey, did you know? CNET Deals texts are free, easy and save you money.

This 11th-gen model offers some nice improvements over its 2022 predecessor. It doubles the base storage to 128GB and has replaced the A14 chip with an A16. It doesn’t run Apple Intelligence but it does offer a 512GB storage tier and works with the 10th-gen iPad’s Keyboard Folio. It starts at just $349, which is the same price it was before, so the upgrades add more value for the money. You can also currently pick up the the Magic Keyboard for $287 at Amazon , a nice $32 price cut.

You can order the updated A16 iPad at Apple right now, starting at just $349 for the Wi-Fi model and $499 for the version with cellular support. While there are no direct discounts on this tablet right now, if you have an older device you’d like to part with, you could get up to $710 for an eligible trade-in, helping offset some of the cost of your upgrade. But keep in mind that the newer models with more advanced chips will receive the highest values.

Additionally, you can earn 3% cash back when you use your Apple Card* to make your purchase.

Amazon is currently offering Apple’s iPad for $50 in savings available across the board. Just note that these prices are often volatile and may change at any moment.

You can currently save up to $50, depending on the model you choose. You can save $50 on the basic 128GB model in yellow. Plus, you’ll get your sales tax back as cash back if you make the purchase using a B&H Payboo Credit Card.*

Best Buy has the A16 iPad available with a base $50 discount and you can save up to $175 with an eligible trade-in. You’ll also get three free months of Apple Fitness Plus, Apple Music and Apple Arcade, as well as two free months of Apple TV with the purchase — as long as you’re a new or returning subscriber.

Amazon is offering a direct discount, which is the best deal out there that doesn’t require any special conditions. Best Buy is offering the same $50 discount, and there is potential to save up to $175 with trade in. If you have an older tablet to trade in, Apple’s current offer could save you several hundred dollars.

How we choose iPad deals at CNET

Discounts on the latest Apple devices can be hard to come by but CNET’s dedicated deals team has years of experience helping readers score savings on top tech. Above, we’ve rounded up any straightforward discounts currently available on the iPad A16, as well as some additional ways to save. These include any trade-in offers, exclusive discounts when you pay with a specific credit card and any free services you may get with the purchase. We also ensure that all featured deals are sourced from a trustworthy retailer, so you never have to wonder if a bargain is too good to be true.

The base price for the iPad A16 is $349. It’s an extra $100 if you want to upgrade to 256GB of storage or $200 for 512GB of storage. If you want cellular connectivity, prices start at $499.

This model comes in silver, blue, pink and yellow.

Apple rarely offers discounts on its own devices, especially the latest models, so you’ll have to look elsewhere if you’re hoping to pick up one of these iPad A16 models on sale. Major retailers like Amazon, Best Buy and Walmart are a good place to start, especially during major shopping events. It’s also worth seeing what deals are available at smaller online retailers like Adorama, B&H Photo and Newegg, because they may be offering some under-the-radar bargains that aren’t being matched by larger competitors.
