The next college semester is only a few weeks away, and to help the next generation of students prepare, we’ve been scouring online retailers for great deals on audio tech. Lo and behold, we just happened to find one at Bose’s website. For a limited time, the Bose QuietComfort Headphones are on sale for $229, which is a sizable $130 discount. These headphones normally retail for $359. Every color option, from the basic Black to Chilled Lilac, received the discount. If you prefer buying from a third-party retailer, you can find the exact same deal at Best Buy.

The Bose QuietComfort Headphones stay true to their name, striking a good balance between comfort, performance, and, interestingly enough, simplicity. This pair lacks some of the high-end features that you’d see on more expensive options. They don’t support spatial audio, have any touch controls, or any fancy software features. But that’s totally fine because the headphones still provide a great user experience.

Instead, these headphones sport intuitive physical buttons, a “straightforward” and comfortable design, and “excellent noise cancellation,” according to ZDNET editor Jada Jones in her review. They don’t “offer the most sophisticated listening experience,” she writes, as you can “find better audio quality elsewhere”. However, if you want headphones that are perfect for daily commuting, working in an office, or blocking out a noisy airport, we recommend Bose’s QuietComfort.

    How I rated this deal

As per ZDNET’s rating system, I grant this deal a 4/5. $130 off is about a 37% discount, which is pretty significant. At the time of this writing, $229 is the lowest these headphones have ever been. Past discounts were only 30% off. I recommend these to anyone (especially students) looking for a decent pair of headphones that won’t break the bank. As Jones put it in her review, these devices provide “the best Bose has to offer, and nothing else.”

As per Bose, this deal ends on August 10
