The EZVIZ EP3x Pro Doorbell is a standout contender for one of the best video doorbells you can buy right now – and it’s easy to see why.

It combines an ultrawide dual-camera system with sharp 2K resolution, motion alerts, and genuinely useful extras like onboard storage and solar charging – all without locking you into a subscription.

At the heart of the EP3x Pro are its two lenses: a sharp 2K main camera to monitor your front door, and a downward-facing 1080P lens to keep tabs on parcels. In testing, both delivered clear, smooth footage, while the night vision impressed thanks to the built-in spotlight that ensures clarity even in darkness.

From a security standpoint, there’s also a tamper alarm that sends an alert to your phone if anyone tries to interfere with the device – a welcome feature if you’re away from home. It also has an IP rating of IP65, meaning it can withstand even the harshest weather conditions.

As a single mum of two, I’ve wanted a video doorbell for years. With my kids getting more independent, the added peace of mind is something I’ve craved. But the idea of drilling into brickwork, running cables, or faffing with brackets? No thanks. That’s where the EP3x Pro shines. There’s no need to be a DIY whizz – I installed mine using the included adhesive pad and that was it. No tools, no wires, no stress. And despite my initial skepticism, it’s stayed firmly in place.

EZVIZ EP3X PRO REVIEW: PRICE AND AVAILABILITY

You can buy the EZVIZ EP3x Pro from Amazon or via EZVIZ. At $230 / £179.99 / AU$345, it represents great value – especially considering what’s included: dual cameras, excellent night vision, reliable battery life, built-in storage, solar charging, and no subscription fees.

EZVIZ EP3X PRO REVIEW: UNBOXING AND SETUP

The EP3x Pro comes neatly packaged with everything you need: a manual, mounting bracket, drill template, screws, optional wiring for hardwired setups, a USB-A to USB-C charging cable, and the real hero, the solar panel.

You can choose between wired or wireless installation. I opted for the solar-powered route, purely to avoid recharging it every few weeks – and the panel makes that completely hassle-free.

Attaching it is straightforward: unscrew two screws on the back of the doorbell, connect the solar panel using the provided joiners, screw it back together, and you’re done. It’s a genuinely quick five-minute job, even if you’re not tech-savvy.

Mounting the doorbell is simple, too as it just clicks securely into place. To connect, download the EZVIZ app (iOS/Android), scan the QR code, and follow the on-screen prompts. Setup is intuitive, with diagrams to guide you through everything – from motion zones and two-way audio to video playback.

Once connected to Wi-Fi, you’re good to go. The best part? No subscription fees. With 32GB of built-in storage, the EP3x Pro can store up to six months of footage without costing you a penny. That’s rare in a market where most rivals charge monthly just to access your own clips.

EZVIZ EP3X PRO REVIEW: PERFORMANCE AND FEATURES

The EP3x Pro keeps things simple – and that’s part of its appeal. The minimalist design reflects its no-nonsense purpose: showing you who’s at your door and keeping an eye on parcels.

The dual-lens system works well. The 2K camera captures visitors in crisp detail, while the second, lower-angle 1080p lens gives you a clear view of anything left on your doorstep. In the app, both angles appear stacked top and bottom, so you can see everything from face to floor. The live view also includes the date and time, and the wide-angle lens offered a great view of my pathway and the road outside.

Motion alerts and doorbell presses were impressively quick. When someone rang the bell, I received a phone call rather than a standard notification – and the response was virtually instant.

At night, the built-in spotlight activates automatically, so even in total darkness, the image remains clear. The video feed was sharp and fluid, and the two-way audio exceeded expectations – loud, clear, and simple to use, whether you’re upstairs or miles away.

The power setup is another big win. The rechargeable battery charges via USB-C, but the solar panel means you’ll rarely, if ever, need to plug it in. It’s not the sleekest-looking add-on, but it scores highly for practicality.

Throughout testing, everything worked smoothly. Calls and footage came through quickly when I was home. There was a slight delay when accessing it remotely, but that’s pretty standard.

    EZVIZ EP3X PRO REVIEW: VERDICT

The EP3x Pro is a serious contender for best smart doorbell if you want a hassle-free, wire-free option without ongoing costs.

I’ll admit, I left mine in the box for too long, expecting a setup headache – but I was up and running in under 30 minutes, with zero stress (and without having to borrow the neighbour’s husband).

It delivers sharp video quality, a smart dual-lens system, and solar convenience at a sensible price. For first-time buyers or anyone upgrading from a basic chime-only model, it’s an easy recommendation. I’m already spreading the word to my mum friends – and yes, I’ve got my eye on the road like a one-woman Neighbourhood Watch.

EZVIZ EP3X PRO REVIEW: ALTERNATIVES TO CONSIDER

There’s no shortage of excellent video doorbells out there, but the EP3x Pro stands out if you’re after a wireless solution with local storage and solar charging.

The Ring Battery Video Doorbell Plus offers similar features and great image quality at a similar price – plus seamless integration with Alexa and the Echo ecosystem.

The Arlo 2K Video Doorbell is another solid option. It’s wireless, easy to install, and offers crisp video, but it requires removal to recharge and a subscription to access cloud storage and advanced alerts.
