Anthropic’s Claude AI models are currently experiencing a major outage, impacting products like Claude Code. Developers are currently seeing a 500 error when trying to use Claude Code, and Anthropic has noted that it is seeing elevated error rates on its APIs “across all Claude models.”

Anthropic says the issue has been identified and a fix is on the way, but developers that rely on the tool are currently staring at their screens waiting for the service to come back online. Claude Opus 4.5 also experienced some errors yesterday, and earlier this week Anthropic had to fix purchasing issues for its AI credits system.

It’s unusual to see Claude Code experience a major outage like this, especially as the service is used widely by developers, including Microsoft’s AI teams.
