If your smartphone videos are sounding a little rough around the edges, the easiest way to improve your audio quality is with a wireless lavalier mic. Pocketable kits like the DJI Mic 3 easily connect to your phone, giving you the ease of shooting video on mobile and the quality you’d expect from more professional productions. You can scoop up a complete kit for $259 that includes a charging case, two transmitters, and receiver, a healthy discount from its usual $329 price point.

DJI has made a number of improvements to this generation of wireless mic that make these even easier to use. The case has been redesigned to accommodate all the extra bits and bobs you need for a full day of shooting, including the windscreens, TRS cable, and the clips and magnets that keep the mics stuck to you. Between the new charging case and the larger internal batteries, you can now get up to 28 hours of recording on a single charge. The transmitters are even smaller than the previous version as well, but they do lack a dedicated 3.5mm input for external mics.

Some under the hood improvements have propelled these from casual to professional, like proper timecode support. If you have a big group, you can roll up to four transmitters and eight receivers into the same recording session. Audio quality has been improved as well, with two active noise-cancelling levels, lossless 24-bit audio to the receiver, and voice presets that make post-production even easier. Each transmitter also holds 32GB, and can broadcast to the receiver from up to 400 meters away, a big bump from the older models.

There are a variety of discounts available, so that you can build the perfect on-the-go recording setup. The biggest bundle, which includes the charging case, two transmitters, and one receiver, is discounted to $259 from its usual price of $329. The smaller bundle with just one transmitter and one receiver is $169, down from $219, and you can add individual receivers for $99. Additional transmitters are listed for $84, but are back-ordered until February as I write this.
