Disney is folding Hulu into Disney+, but the standalone Hulu app has not disappeared yet. As of October 2026 there is still no shutdown date, Hulu is still sold as its own subscription in the US, and Disney+ has quietly become the main home for Hulu shows. Here is the official timeline, what you should do as a Hulu subscriber right now and what each plan costs after the latest price increase.

Quick answer: The Hulu app still works. In May 2026 Disney said it had no current plans to sunset it, while it keeps building a unified Disney+ experience that already carries the full Hulu library. If you pay for the Disney+ and Hulu bundle, link your Hulu profile inside Disney+ now so your history and watchlist move over. If you have Hulu + Live TV or add ons, keep using the Hulu app for those for now.

    The official timeline so far

Disney has changed its messaging a few times, so it helps to separate what the company actually announced from the rumors around it.

    DateWhat happened
Spring 2024The Disney+ app added Hulu’s on demand library for bundle subscribers.
August 6, 2025On its earnings call, Disney said it would fully integrate Hulu into Disney+ and deliver a unified app experience in 2026.
October 8, 2025Hulu replaced the Star brand inside Disney+ in international markets.
February 5, 2026Support for the Hulu app on Nintendo Switch ended.
May 19, 2026Bundle subscribers could sync Hulu profiles into Disney+, and Hulu only subscribers could sign in to Disney+ with their Hulu login. Disney said there were no current plans to sunset the Hulu app.
September 24, 2026New Disney+ and Hulu prices took effect for new subscribers. Existing customers move to them on their first bill on or after October 21, 2026.

One Poisoned Document Could Leak Secret Data via ChatGPT: What to Know

The direction is clear: Disney+ is becoming the single front door, and Hulu is turning into a brand inside it. What Disney has not done is publish a date when the Hulu app stops working, so treat any specific shutdown date you see online as unconfirmed.

What Hulu subscribers should do now

If you have the Disney+ and Hulu bundle

    1. Open the Disney+ app and sign in with the account that holds your bundle.
    2. Follow the on screen prompt to link your Hulu profile. Disney says you only need to do this once.
    3. Check that your recent shows appear in Continue Watching and that your Hulu My Stuff list shows up in your Disney+ Watchlist.
    4. Look for Hulu content under the For You tab and in the dedicated Hulu hub on the Disney+ home screen.

Some profiles cannot be linked yet. Disney said Hulu + Live TV plans, the Disney+, Hulu and HBO Max bundle, Hulu add ons, kids profiles and profiles for users under 18 were excluded from the May 2026 rollout.

If you pay for Hulu only

Your subscription continues as before. You can now sign in to Disney+ with your Hulu credentials and stream Hulu content there, along with a small sampling of Disney+ and ESPN programming meant to tempt you toward a bundle. You do not have to switch apps if you are happy with the Hulu app.

If you have Hulu + Live TV or add ons

Stay in the Hulu app. Live TV channels and add on packages are still delivered there, and Disney has only said they will come to Disney+ at a future date.

Tip: before the price change hits your account, open your MyDisney account page and check exactly which plan you are on. If you pay for Hulu and Disney+ separately, note that the bundle with ads costs less than either ad free plan on its own.

Disney+ and Hulu prices in October 2026

Disney raised prices again in September 2026. These are the monthly US prices for new subscribers, with the previous price for comparison:

    PlanOld priceNew price
    Hulu with ads$11.99$12.49
    Hulu Premium, no ads$18.99$21.49
    Disney+ with ads$11.99$12.49
    Disney+ Premium, no ads$18.99$21.49
Disney+ and Hulu bundle with ads$12.99$12.99, unchanged
Disney+ and Hulu bundle, no ads$19.99$21.99
Disney+, Hulu and ESPN with ads$19.99$21.99
Disney+, Hulu and HBO Max with ads$19.99$21.99
Disney+, Hulu and HBO Max, no ads$32.99$34.99

The standout is the Disney+ and Hulu bundle with ads at $12.99. It costs just 50 cents more than either service alone with ads, which is a strong hint about where Disney wants Hulu fans to end up.

    FAQ

    Is Hulu shutting down?

No. Hulu as a brand and a subscription is staying. What Disney is phasing toward is one combined app, with Hulu content living inside Disney+.

When will the Hulu app stop working?

Disney has not announced a date. In May 2026 it said there were no current plans to sunset the app, so it keeps working on supported devices for now.

Will I lose my watch history?

Not if you link your profile. Linked profiles carry over watch history, your saved list and recommendations into Disney+.

Do I need a new subscription to watch Hulu on Disney+?

No. Bundle subscribers already get the full Hulu library in Disney+, and Hulu only subscribers can sign in to Disney+ with their existing Hulu login.

    The verdict

Nothing breaks overnight. The Hulu app still runs, your plan still works and Disney has set no end date. The smart move is to link your Hulu profile in Disney+ now, review your plan before the October billing change and consider the $12.99 bundle with ads if you pay for both services separately.
