In 2024, we learned Tim Burton was being eyed to direct a remake of Attack of the 50 Foot Woman for Warner Bros. from a script by Gillian Flynn. Now, the director may have found his lead in fellow WB alum Margot Robbie.

Per Variety, the Barbie actress is in “early conversations” to headline the film, which tells the story of a wealthy heiress who becomes giant-sized after meeting an alien. Her next move, upon realizing her new stature, is to enact some payback on her cheating husband. Should she take on the role, Robbie will also produce the film through her production company LuckyChap. The remake would also reunite Warner Bros. with Robbie and Burton after Barbie and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice hit big for the studio in 2023 and 2024.

The original Attack of the 50 Foot Woman released in 1958 by director Nathan Hertz, and Hollywood has thought about remaking it several times over the decades. Only one actually came to fruition—a TV version for HBO in 1993 from Christopher Guest starring Darryl Hannah—but the concept has been parodied or referenced by filmmakers and pop artists like Beyonce and Lana Del Ray. (For the millennials, Dreamworks’ Monsters vs. Aliens had a giant woman named Ginormica who was 49’11.)

We’ll have more information on this Attack of the 50 Ft. Woman remake as it comes out.
