Microsoft has announced the first wave of Xbox Game Pass titles for August 2025, and it’s a solid mix of blockbuster IPs, sleeper hits, and inventive indie games. In total, eight new games are headed to the service in the first half of the month — with Assassin’s Creed Mirage and Citizen Sleeper 2 leading the charge.

Whether you’re into strategic RPGs, stealth assassinations, or just want to mow down Xenomorphs with a pulse rifle, there’s something here worth checking out.

Here’s What’s Coming to Game Pass This Month

    Available Now

    • Rain World (Cloud, Console, PC)
A brutally atmospheric survival platformer where you play as a vulnerable slugcat in a decaying world full of predators. Now available.

    August 6 Releases

    • Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector (Xbox Series X|S)
The sequel to the critically acclaimed narrative RPG. Play as a rogue android trying to survive and find purpose on the run. Dice-based mechanics meet deep storytelling.

    • Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders (Xbox Series X|S)
A new winter expansion for the beloved downhill biking game. More mountains, more snow, more chances to crash into trees at high speed.

    • MechWarrior 5: Clans (Xbox Series X|S)
Classic mech combat returns with clan warfare and strategic battle customization. Perfect for fans of heavy metal (literally).

    • Orcs Must Die! Deathtrap (Xbox Series X|S)
A tower-defense and action hybrid. Lay traps, wield weapons, and defend your stronghold from waves of orcs and other creatures.

    Releases of August 7

    • Assassin’s Creed Mirage (Cloud, Console, PC)
Ubisoft’s stealth-focused return to form. Set in ninth-century Baghdad, follow Basim as he hones his skills and explores the roots of the Brotherhood. Available on Game Pass Ultimate and PC.

    August 12

    • Aliens: Fireteam Elite (Cloud, Console, PC)
Squad up and survive. A third-person shooter that drops you into a fireteam battling endless Xenomorph hordes. Timely, with the new Aliens TV series on the way.

    August 14

What’s Leaving Game Pass This Month

Three unlisted titles are expected to leave the platform on August 15. If you’ve been meaning to wrap any unfinished games, now’s your chance before they’re removed from the library and require purchase to continue playing.

    Coming Later This Month

As is tradition, Microsoft adds Game Pass titles in two monthly waves, and the second half of August is already looking strong. Expect to see Gears of War: Reloaded and a mysterious title called Herdling join the lineup in a few weeks.
