In New York City, an unlikely, superpowered being is trained by a mysterious sensei to fight a group of ninjas. Are we talking Daredevil? Are we talking about one of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? “Yes” is the answer to both, and that’s why this news is so much fun.

The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that for the upcoming landmark release of IDW’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #300, it got comic book legend Frank Miller to do a cover. You see a tease of it above, but here’s the full deal.

This would be cool if that were the end of the story. Frank Miller’s Ninja Turtles is awesome on its own. But what’s even better about it is that Turtles creators Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird were heavily inspired by Miller’s Daredevil run when creating the Turtles. Hence, those aforementioned similarities. It makes this a real full-circle moment.

“It was fun to jump into the playground with the Ninjas for this cover and reminisce that they were born by Peter and Kevin as homage to my Daredevil run,” Miller said in a statement. “This one is for the fans.”

The issue will be out on July 22 and will come in several different versions. There’s the Miller version above, a brand new cover by Eastman and Laird (which you can see at the THR link above), as well as several others by artists such as J. Scott Campbell and Juan Ferreyra. Some will be released in a blind bag, so you don’t know which one you get until you open it.

“From a blind bag with an amazing artist lineup to Frank Miller’s first-ever TMNT drawing and a never-before-seen piece by Kevin and Peter, TMNT No. 300 will be the ultimate reading and collecting experience for TMNT fans this year,” IDW’s director of sales Ryan Balkam said.

Which version of the comic are you hoping to get?
