Alien: Earth is barrelling towards its conclusion – or, at the very least, the end of its debut season.

Viewers have had lots to say about the Alien franchise’s first-ever TV show, too. Whether it’s Alien: Earth‘s liberal approach to what’s canon in this universe, its tone-altering needle drops, those glaring plot holes, and/or deep-rooted themes, the show has sparked plenty of discussion over the past five weeks.

With so much narrative ground to cover in the sci-fi horror series’ next episode, Alien: Earth is likely to leave some plot threads hanging and mysteries unresolved by the time its end credits roll. One puzzle that should be cracked next time, though, involves T. Ocellus, aka the eyeball monster that audiences have – weird as it is to say – fallen in love with. Major spoilers immediately follow for the FX TV Original’s first season, up to and including its seventh episode.

Alien: Earth‘s latest chapter, titled ‘Emergence’, is largely a set-up entry ahead of next week’s likely explosive season 1 finale. One such story strand that’s established in ‘Emergence’ is that Trypanohyncha Ocellus will get a new host.

Indeed, after spending the past four episodes mind-controlling a sheep – and doing some pretty horrific stuff, such as being responsible for the death of Tootles in episode 6, within its current host – Ocellus is about to get an upgrade. And, based on a conversation that plays out between Prodigy’s nefarious CEO Boy Kavalier and his right-hand man Atom Eins, it sounds like Boy wants Ocellus to be transferred into a human host so Boy can have a full-blown chat with this incredibly intelligent – not to mention extremely dangerous – alien lifeform.

The Land Bridge You’ve Never Heard Of

What’s even more worrying for some humans who currently inhabit Prodigy’s secret island paradise is that Boy has someone specific in mind for Ocellus. So, which potential candidates are up for the proverbial chopping block in the Hulu and Disney+ show?

    1. C.J. Hermit

The brother of Wendy/Marcy, C.J. has been a thorn in Boy Kavalier’s side ever since he arrived on Prodigy Island.

Indeed, not only has C.J. repeatedly tried to convince Prodigy to let him and Wendy/Marcy leave, but he’s attempted to do so – with a little help from the now-deceased Arthur – without permission in episode 7. There’s also the small fact that, thanks to Prodigy, C.J. was given a new lung after one of his original lungs collapsed following a near-fatal run-in with a xenomorph in episode 3.

If Boy really wants to get back at C.J. for attempting to leave with one of his $6 billion projects (i.e. Wendy/Marcy), as well as prove once and for all just how callous he is, letting Ocellus take over C.J. would be one way to do it. You’ve just got to wonder what Wendy/Marcy and her pet xenomorph will do to Boy if the latter takes away the only blood relative she has left.

    2. Dame Sylvia

Another individual who’s entered Boy’s crosshairs in recent episodes, Prodigy scientist Dame Sylvia is another option available to Boy and Ocellus.

For one, she’s incredibly smart, so joining her intellect with that of Ocellus would create a super-organism who’d arguably be able to verbally go toe-to-toe with Prodigy’s boy genius.

Despite Sylvia having no involvement in C.J. and Arthur’s plot to help C.J, Wendy/Marcy, and Nibs escape, you get the feeling that Boy didn’t believe her when she told him as much in ‘Emergence’, either. Boy is clearly an individual who can hold a grudge so, if he has no further use for Sylvia and/or doesn’t value her life anymore, she might be the perfect test subject to let Ocellus take control of.

    3. Morrow

The loss of Morrow would be a huge body-blow to Weyland-Yutani (Image credit: FX Networks)

Admittedly, this option is a left-field one. After all, Morrow isn’t fully human anymore – remember, he’s part-cyborg, so it’s anyone’s guess if Ocellus would be able to control someone who’s only half-human.

Nonetheless, using Morrow as Ocellus’ next host would be another villainous move on Boy’s part. Morrow is the property of Weyland-Yutani, one of five megacorporations that run planet Earth. They’re also Prodigy’s biggest rival and had numerous run-ins with Boy’s conglomerate this season because, well, he stole the extraterrestrials that Weyland-Yutani spent 60 years capturing before Alien: Earth‘s story began.

Despite his cybernetic enhancements, Morrow might not be the sharpest tool in the box – he proved as much by walking right into Kirsh’s trap in episode 7. Still, he comes across as an individual who not only tries to think two or three steps ahead, but also possesses an augmented body. Imagine what an incredibly clever creature like Ocellus could do with a host like this, and what impact it would have on Weyland-Yutani if Boy turns one of its most valuable assets into a toy for a dangerous entity that their competitor is experimenting on instead of them.
