iOS 27.2 Is Days Away. The Health App Redesign on Every Feature List Won’t Be in It.

For most iPhone owners, iOS 27.2 is the first real feature update since iOS 27 arrived in September. Apple sent the release candidate to developers on October 19, which usually means the public version is about a week out. Feature roundups are everywhere, including UNILAD Tech’s list of seven new features, and almost all of them lead with the same headline item: the redesigned Health app.

There is a catch. According to MacRumors, Apple pulled the new Health app from the release candidate. It was tested throughout the beta, it was shown on stage in September, and it is now “coming in a later update.” Here is what you will actually get when iOS 27.2 lands, what is still uncertain, and when to expect it.

    The short version

    • Apple released the iOS 27.2 release candidate (build 24B115) on Monday, October 19.
    • The public release is expected the week of October 26. Apple has not announced a date.
    • Confirmed in the RC: Siri AI in five new languages, Apple TV app profiles on iPhone and iPad, anniversary alerts in Call Context, Messages suggestions and a new Apple Music icon.
    • The redesigned Health app, with its Insights, Longevity and Browse tabs, was removed and will come later.
    • iOS 27.1 was only for iPhone Duo, which is why everyone else jumps straight from 27.0 to 27.2.

When iOS 27.2 will be released

Apple’s pattern is consistent. A release candidate is normally the exact build that ships, and the public release tends to follow about a week later unless testers find a bug serious enough to need a second RC. With the RC out on October 19, that points to the week of October 26.

Apple has also boxed itself in. It promised that the new Siri AI languages in iOS 27.2 would arrive in October, and MacRumors notes that leaves very little room past the end of the month. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has reported that Apple invited media to an all-day event in Los Angeles on Wednesday, October 28, built around touchscreen MacBook Pro models and a new iPad mini. Apple has not confirmed that event, but point updates often ship in the days around a hardware launch.

The road to iOS 27.2 Key dates in Apple’s fall 2026 software cycle Sept iOS 27 released Sept 16 27.2 beta 1 with new Health app Oct 12 Beta 4 Oct 19 Release candidate Health app removed Oct 23 iPhone Duo ships on iOS 27.1 Oct 26+ Expected public release RC to public release has typically taken about one week, unless a second RC is needed Sources: MacRumors, Apple Scoop, Gadget Hacks, Macworld. October 26 is an estimate, not an Apple announcement.

What is confirmed in the final build

The safest list is what made it into the release candidate. These are the features MacRumors and Apple Scoop report in the RC build.

Siri AI in five more languages. The headline change for many users outside the U.S. Siri AI now works in French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish. If you have been waiting to use the new Siri in your own language, this is the update that unlocks it on supported iPhones.

Apple TV app profiles on iPhone and iPad. Apple TV boxes have had user profiles for years. Now the TV app on iPhone and iPad gets them too, with separate recommendations and watch history per person. Child profiles default to PG content, with a customize option for finer age ratings, which makes handing a phone or iPad to a kid less of a gamble. Apple’s TV push has been busy this month, including Siri AI coming to older Apple TV boxes with tvOS 27.2.

Anniversary alerts in Call Context. If you have an anniversary saved for a contact, the Phone app reminds you when you call them. Small, but it could save a few awkward conversations.

Messages suggestions. When someone texts you about a date or plan, Messages can offer a one-tap option to add it to your calendar or set a reminder, and it can surface relevant photos, places and contacts from the conversation. The feature appeared in the original iOS 27 beta and was pulled before launch, so this is its second attempt. Mashable notes it is also Apple catching up with Pixel’s Magic Cue and Samsung’s Now Nudge.

A new Apple Music icon, plus fewer red accents inside the app. EU users also get an expanded App Tracking Transparency prompt that asks again once a year.

    Feature status at a glance

Several features from earlier betas were widely reported but have not been individually confirmed in the RC. Apple has not published final release notes yet, so treat the middle rows as likely rather than guaranteed.

    FeatureWhat it doesStatus
Siri AI languagesFrench, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, SpanishIn RC
Apple TV profilesPer-person watch history and kid profiles on iPhone and iPadIn RC

Home lock alertsLock After Closing and Door Left Open for smart locksTested in beta
CarPlay Ultra themesWallpaper, gauge style and color optionsTested in beta
Redesigned Health appInsights, Longevity and Browse tabs, Health AgePulled, coming later

The beta features are useful ones. Group FaceTime Dual Capture extends a trick that previously only worked in one-on-one calls. The Podcasts change finally separates new episodes from the ones you abandoned halfway through. And the Home app’s lock alerts, Lock After Closing with a timer and Door Left Open warnings, are the kind of quiet safety feature smart lock owners have wanted for a while.

What happened to the Health app

The new Health app was supposed to be the star. Apple showed it at its September event, and the first iOS 27.2 beta on September 16 included it. It reorganizes the app into three tabs. Insights shows your latest vitals, sleep score, heart rate and Activity rings. Longevity tracks your data over time and calculates a “Health Age” from activity level, VO2 max, sleep and other metrics, using in-app assessments that rely on the iPhone’s camera to measure flexibility, strength, balance and VO2 max. Browse keeps the full directory of health categories.

Why this matters: many roundups, written from beta notes, still list the Health redesign as part of iOS 27.2. If you install the update next week expecting a new Health app, you will not find it. Apple has not given a new date, and the beta version only ever supported U.S. English.

Apple has not explained the delay. Health Age is the kind of number people take seriously, and estimating it partly from camera-based fitness tests raises the bar for accuracy. Holding it back until it is ready is more reassuring than shipping it half-finished, even if it leaves iOS 27.2 a little thinner than expected.

    Should you install it?

For most people, yes, once it is out. Point releases also carry security fixes, and the RC stage means the build has already been through four betas. If you rely on a specific app for work, waiting a day or two for early reports is reasonable. If you got an iPhone Duo this week, note that it shipped on iOS 27.1, a build made just for Apple’s foldable. Apple has not said exactly when the Duo moves to the mainline 27.2 release, so check Software Update after launch. Our iPhone Duo review roundup covers how the phone performs so far.

When it arrives, you will find it under Settings > General > Software Update. And if you have been holding off on rearranging your home screen, iOS 27 already added a few tricks worth trying in the meantime, like extra-large widgets that can fill the whole screen.
